Bioscience technology has been regarded as the technology with the most potential and has the strongest impact on industries and human welfare in the 21st century. The Department integrates research and education resources with College of Health Sciencel to establish a competitive educational environment. The Department also cooperates with academics, domestic and foreign, and experts from industries to better the professional skills needed in the employment of different fields of biosciences and further academic studies.

The Department provides students a wide range of actual hands-on operations in bioscience laboratory in addition to an in-depth understanding of the theories. Students learn experiment designs, research methods, and system development and testing. The focus of the Department includes medical care, medicine, industry, agriculture, animal husbandry, food, environment and forensic applications.

Short-and-mid term goals are to establish a competitive teaching environment and to build a practical and developable research environment. The Department will further cooperate with industries , scholars and experts in bioscience technology related fields from all over the world to cultivate technical talents and promote the development of bioscience technology industry.

Long-term goals are to coordinate industry promotion projects at Middle and Southern Taiwan Science Parks to train senior research talents of bioscience technology and industrial development in order to extend industrial effect of developing Science Park, and set up graduate school of bioscience technology.
